Krabi is divided into eight administrative regions: Ao Luk, Plai Praya, Muang, Neua Klong, Klong Thom, Khao Phanom, Lam Tup, and Ko Lanta. And its major cities and towns including Krabi Town, Ao Nang, Nopparat Thara, Railay, Ton Sai Bay, Klong Muang and Tupkaek account for the majority of the province’s tourism activities.
Formerly a fishing town and located in Muang District, Krabi town is not only the provincial capital, but also one of the country’s most captivating cities. Boasting an illustrious combination of picturesque allure, culture and modern facilities with western dining options, excellent bars and night clubs, it offers quite a lot to satiate all your interests both day and night. Go for a kayaking tour along its mangrove forest, visit the traditional Thai fishing village, check out its vibrant Walking Street and of course trip the sanctified Tiger Cave, just eight kilometers away. The place also serves as a perfect base to explore its nearby attractions, including the 100 meters high Khao Kanab Nam Mountains that magnificently rises out of water and especially known for its alluring caves paintings of pre-historic era.
Adjacent to Krabi Town and within easy reach of Krabi Airport is Ao Nang which enthralls you with its lively atmosphere and a string of good accommodations, bars and restaurants. Besides exquisite sunset views, perhaps the best thing about this popular beach resort is a variety of island hopping tours you can begin from here. Rent a longtail boat to explore its nearby islands and beaches, such as the enchanting Koh Phi Phi Island, Phra Nang Cave Beach, Poda Island, and Chicken Island. Another must-do while here to take an elephant trekking tour to discover the verdant scenery and exotic wildlife inhabiting its rainforest.
When it comes to Nopparat Thara and Railay, they both offer exceptional beaches. On the other hand, Ton Sai Bay mainly aces for its remarkably relaxed atmosphere and quietude, being away from the bustling scene of Ao Nang and devoid of any road, motorized vehicle and swanky hotels or dining choices. Captivatingly, the only way to reach here is via boat from Ao Nang and Nopparat Thara.
